What Must We Do To Do The Works God Requires

As it is written in a famous bible passage, John 3:16.. ''For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life". This passage of the bible has the many question man can ever ask about his salvation. God made an ultimate sacrifice by giving out the one He loves to gain our own love. Therefore we ought to know the reason for this sacrifice.

After the fall of man in Genesis, Man was separated from God(this is like a pet dog being separated from it's owner). Now man's suffering started but all the way down down, God was troubled as long as He knew that He was still separated from those He created to be like Himself and out of love. So, He sought for a way to bridge the gap between Himself and Humanity.

Firstly, He made a covenant with Abraham and made him the father of all nations( Gen 15), then He gave him an only son(Isaac) and asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac as a burnt offering... I took time to study the reason God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son and what came to my mind was that God did not just test Abraham's faith but He wanted to know if man was capable of doing what He was about to do through Christ Jesus. God finding a faithful man like Abraham assured Him that many people will understand the worth of the sacrificing the one you truly love.

In John 14:6, we see that "Christ is the way, the truth and the life...." The way Christ has placed is the sure way to the Father and that no one can come to the Father except through Him(Christ). So, we see that the reason God sent Christ was to bridge the gap that existed between Himself and Humanity. Therefore, what He requires of us must be places on whom He sent. John 6:27 says "do not work for food that spoils but for food that endures to eternal life, which the son of man(Christ) will give to you, on him the Father has placed His seal of approval. Also, in John 6:44 Christ made it clear to us saying "No one can come to me, unless the Father who sent me draws him and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written by the prophet: they all will be taught by the Father. Everyone who listens to the father and learns from Him comes to me. No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God, only Him has seen the Father. I am the bread of life. Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die. I am the living bread that comes down from heaven, If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever. This bread is my flesh which I will give for the life of the world.

In summary, the disciples asked Him, "what must we do to do the works God requires?" Jesus answered "the work of God is this: to believe in the one He has sent".
