Majority support integration, but what will it take for success?
African unity is just round the corner – if you can wait for it - but it might take a little longer to happen, as this newest study reveals. Though integration is supported by 60% of those polled, there's a sizable minority - 40% - that is still not convinced. The typical reasons against unity are the fear of losing property to wealthier, more aggressive neighbors or unwillingness to share resources with poorer ones. Whichever of the two fears rule, they’ll need to be taken care of before the 'United States of Africa' becomes a reality on the ground, rather than a dream in the sky.
