THE DOCTRINE OF DIVINE SOVEREIGNTY

"Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? " Matthew 20:15.
We all claim to acknowledge God as being supreme in our lives; especially when He blesses us in one way or another, we are very quick to appreciate Him as master over our lives. But when calamity befalls us, we are angry with God. We question His existence. We ask where He travelled to, or what distracted Him from seeing beforehand our problems, and preventing same. Some even ask: "God, are you asleep, to allow this problem happen to me? " Others doubt whether He even exists.
This negative attitude of questioning God's existence or potency is another form of idolatry, which the Isrealites where guilty of when Moses delayed in coming down from the mountain and they forced Aaron to make them a golden calf in place of God. We all know the punishment that befell them as a result of that sin.
We do not, cannot and should not question God. We are His creation. We are His property. Just as no one has the right to question you with the way you deal with your property, so also do we not have the right to question God on what He does with His creation. God has His divine purpose and calender; we cannot alter same, all we need do is search for the truth in the Bible and locate His divine purpose for you.
All blessings are gifts from God. We do not have any claim to them on our own merit. God has the right, seeing that everything belongs to Him, to do what He wills with them. He can withhold them wholly, if He pleases; distribute them all, if He chooses; to give to some and not to others; to give to no one or to give to all. He does what seems right to Him. His ways are not our ways. We cannot subject God's actions and decisions to the reasoning of man, no matter how logical or reasonable we think we are. 1Thessalonians 5:18 says: " In everything give thanks:for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
Ours' is to obey God's commandments and do what is right, and leave the rest to Him. Instead of asking God, "why?", we should ask for His will to be done in our lives. As we do so, may God bless His words in our lives, in the name of the Father, the son and the Holy spirit . Amen!
